The question every student asks at 11pm

What do I need on my final?

Your professor says the final is worth 30% of your grade. You have an 82%. You want an A-minus. What do you need on the exam? That is what this calculator tells you — to the decimal. Percentages and custom weights supported. No signup, no account, no watch-an-ad-first.

Why the easy version.

Four reasons
I.

Handles any weight

Whether your final is 10% or 50%, the math adjusts correctly.

II.

Clear impossibility detection

We tell you plainly if no score on the final can get you there.

III.

Scenario table included

See what overall grade you would get with 70%, 80%, 90%, or 100% on the final.

IV.

The math behind it.

The formula:

Final score needed = (Target − Current × (1 − Weight)) / Weight

Example: Current 82%, target 90%, final worth 30%.

Needed = (90 − 82 × 0.7) / 0.3 = (90 − 57.4) / 0.3 = 32.6 / 0.3 = 108.7%

In this case, your target is not reachable even with a perfect final.

Frequently asked questions.

Your target grade cannot be achieved even with a perfect final. Either lower your target or check with your professor about extra credit opportunities.
This calculator uses percentages. Convert your letter grade to its percentage equivalent first: A = 93, A- = 90, B+ = 87, B = 83, and so on.
Check for a course breakdown section. If genuinely missing, ask your professor directly. It is a fair question.
Enter only the grades that count after drops. The calculator takes your current grade as-is.
If pass/fail, it usually does not change your letter grade. You just need to not fail. This tool is for percentage-based finals.
